The E55′s console includes a vibrant LCD display and an integrated sound system.

Offering a similar design to the Sole E35 but with a larger display and heavier flywheel, the E55 elliptical trainer offers all the features of a health club model in a machine that fits comfortably in your home. The E55 is equipped with a heavy 27-pound flywheel, a high gear ratio not found on most comparable models, and a whisper-quiet drive system. As a result, the trainer delivers an extremely fluid performance and plenty of top-end resistance, helping it function like a much more expensive trainer. The E55′s power incline feature, meanwhile, boosts resistance even more while targeting different core muscle groups, adding diversity to your workout. Simply press a button to raise the incline ramp to your preferred position. The ramp angle is fully adjustable from a level plane up to 40 degrees, so you can individually target and work all major lower body muscles.

The E55 makes it easy to track your workout progress via the vibrant 7.5-inch blue LCD display, which includes windows for resistance, incline, time, distance, calories burned, pulse, and pace. The console also offers a number of handy amenities, including built-in speakers for listening to your iPod or MP3 player, built-in cooling fans, and a water bottle holder.

The E55 comes complete with two heart-rate-controlled workout options, so you can customize the workout specifically to your needs. Throughout your HR workout, the elliptical will display a heart rate zone graph on the console while adjusting the resistance to keep you in your target zone (the trainer includes a wireless chest strap that touts a 99.9 percent accuracy rating).

The E55 offers an adjustable pedals so that you can angle the pedal from heel-to-toe for a comfortable feel.

The remainder of the time, you can challenge yourself with the six automatic programs or two customizable programs.

To encourage a more comfortable workout, Sole added oversized, custom-designed foot pedals to the E55. Designed in collaboration with a leading physical therapist and sports enthusiast, the pedals feature a 2-degree inward slope, helping reduce the ankle and knee stress that’s common in other elliptical machines. This collaboration also produced a revolutionary foot pedal adjustment system not found on any other elliptical brand. Sole knows that not everyone walks the same way, so the company’s engineers designed the E55 to adjust to your gait via a dial mechanism. This allows you to set the pedal angle from heel to toe, with 10 total choices. The feature also reduces the numb toe effects and sore Achilles tendons common on other elliptical machines.

Additional features include a pair of stationary handlebars with built-in pulse sensors; adjustable incline and resistance controls built into the arms; and 20 resistance levels.

About Sole Elliptical Trainers
The perfect elliptical trainer should

combine both natural human movement and exercise effectively to simulate the suitable pattern your foot travels during a smooth, continuous, elliptical motion that is comfortable the entire time. Sole has included an incline function on every elliptical model which will target key muscle groups and enhance the options available for your workout. This addition is provided with no additional cost on the products:

  • Convenient Controls: Adjustable incline and resistance controls built into the arms make it easy to change your workout without ever moving your hands.
  • Adjustable Foot Pedals: These unique foot pedals were developed in collaboration with a leading physical therapist. Together, with Sole engineers, a design was created featuring a 2-degree inward slope to the foot pedals to help reduce ankle and knee stress common in other elliptical machines. This collaboration produced a revolutionary foot pedal angle adjustment not found on any other elliptical at any price. Not everyone walks the same way; so for this reason Sole has made the pedals adjustable to fit the way you walk. This feature also reduces the numb toe effect and sore Achilles tendons.
  • Smooth Whisper Drive System: Smooth natural motion is provided by a whisper quiet drive system. The combination of a heavy flywheel and a high gear ratio means an easy feel with plenty of resistance that will provide a challenging workout with the smoothest motion on the market.
  • Sound System: Sole has an integrated sound system with MP3 player compatible sound cord which enables you to play any audio device with a headphone jack to play through the elliptical trainer’s speakers.

Question
i have been waking up with sore heels for the last month. I thought it was plantar facias so i got some sole supports and started taking multivitamins and ginko biloba. Now i have sharp pains in my finger tips whenever i’m just a bit cold, and my heels still hurt occasionally. I work in a restaurant and am on my feet all the time. I exercise regulary including the stationary bike. I smoke and drink everyday also. What can i do the feel better?
Answered by stratiotes7
I know its probably not what you want to hear, but stop smoking and you will probably feel much better. Your body needs more oxygen in your blood most likely.

But otherwise it sounds like you already have your bases covered. Normally, exercise should take care of it. Maybe you should pay a visit to your doctor to see what he or she may be able to tell you.

Answered by Shauna L
well number one, STOP SMOKING!!! number two, Exercise is particularly important for the lymphatic fluid – because muscle action is how the lymph is ‘squeezed’ along the lymph vessels. The lymph hasn’t got a heart to pump it round – so it’s either exercise or nothing. If your heel pain is in the back of your heel than the most likely cause of pain into your calf would be an achilles tendonitis.
If your heel pain is on the bottom of the heel there is a possibility of a heel neuroma which is basically a nerve entrapment in the heel which may also send pain into the lower leg.
Your best bet would be to see a foot specialist and let he or she sort out the various foot and ankle pains you are experiencing.
I hope this helps.
jumping jacks, and cut back on the smoking and drinking
Answered by quistz
Try slowly quitting the smoking and alcohol. Try different shoes (that are slip-free, of course). When you walk, try to be conscious of how you’re walking: are you stepping down on your heels hard? Try switching to low-impact exercising such as swimming. Talk with your doctor about the pains, it could be signs of several things such as spinal injury or diabetes.
Question
Would a KTM 1190 RC8 R be a bad bike to ride on the streets or was the bike for the sole purpose of racing. I will not be getting one anytime soon but the bike looks amazing. Also, would this be an easy bike to get ( as in i can go to a dealer and i wont have to go on a waiting list)
Answered by Wiggysan
Big waiting list.

You are asking questions about a street bike.

This section is for RACING bikes.

Your question would be better suited to the Street Bike section of Yahoo Answers.

You can find the Street Bike section under Transport, Here : http://answers.yahoo.com/dir/index;_ylt=AmKT9S3cS3lkGCYJO612vAYU5XNG;_ylv=3?sid=396546040

This section is for Motorcycle RACING.

Good luck, I’m sure the users in the Street section will help you out.

Answered by Revoman
I have seen the bike, and I agree it looks awesome!! If a gsxr does good on the street I don’t see why this wouldn’t. The quality is way up there with all the other KTM’s thats for sure. :) If your looking a fun on-road bike check out the 990 adventure (dual-sport, my dad has one and it is a great bike) the 990 super duke or the 690 duke, very cool naked bikes. Also the 690 smc, I have heard great things about it and almost have a deal set up on buying one for myself. Have fun and be safe.
Question
I ride my bike to work every day as well as use my bike for all my transportation needs. If I did not have my bike or my legs I would be in big trouble.
Before the bike became my sole transportation I did a lot of cycling, especially on the stationary last winter. I would do about 60 minutes a day= probably between twenty to thirty miles, keeping my heart rate up where it should be for optimum benefit.
Now that the bike is my transportation I do about ten miles a day and I do not push it at all for fear of waking up the next day too tired to ride to work or worse- injury.
Does anyone out there have experience riding both for transportation and for fitness at the same time? I want to get more miles in but I worry about getting to work….advice? (don’t say get a car, lol)
I cannot do any upper body lifting as I have a serious injury to my AC joint. I’ll probably not be able to do any upper body work for the next year- the Doc says.

ARM EXCERSISES TO BE BALANCED,
Answered by Nikki
Doing some leg exercises like squats, extensions and lunges will increase your power & make riding easier & faster. Try it and see if you get too tired on your rides. I’d try twice a week leg workouts. And it wouldn’t hurt to do some upper body as well.
Answered by Scott8684
you are doing well it sounds with your legs but, i would add arm workouts for balance and I would pick a day that you do not work (i’m guessing you work 5 or 6 days a week) and ride your bike and push it a bit. Thats just me.
Answered by boo2
Like some others mentioned, do arm and upper body workouts for some balance. If you want to improve your legs too, go ahead. I also commute and try to improve my legs/cardio. If I’m gonna push really hard on a day, it’s on my Friday, so I can rest the next day. Also, you can try interval training on the ride home…try Friday for the first one…and improve at a rate you are comfortable with.
Question
So a year ago I was 20 lbs overweight from years of over indulging but today I’ve lost all the weight by weight training 3 to 4 days a week, eating better and commuting to work each day by bike. My commute is 8 miles round trip and my bike is my sole mean of transportation. Now my abs are really firm and I’ve lost 4″ off my waist but I can’t seem to shake the belly fat. It just won’t go away. I envy guys with hard tight abs and in spite of all my crunches, and countless other exercises, this belly fat won’t go away. It really makes me self conscious. About my diet: breakfast is usually oatmeal with and a fruit smoothie, lunch: turkey sandwich on whole wheat, almonds, apple, carrots. dinner: grilled salmon, brown rice, steamed veggies

I heard that the best way to tone your abs is by doing cardio, watching your diet and doing abdominal workouts (sit ups, crunches, etc.).!
Question
I always hear that liability waivers are not very effective, and even if someone does sign a liability waiver that it does not necessarily stop someone from sueing if they get hurt. I’ve heard all they have to do is find a small error or loophole and the liability waiver is thrown out. Why can’t there be a more bulletproof liability waiver?

One that simply says I, __________ will not sue if I get hurt on this property under ANY circumstance at all, weather its my fault or not.

Or some other wording, but you get the point, a simple waiver that makes the people 100% accountable for their own actions, and makes them accountable for determining if what activity they are doing is safe.

I hate the way that so many fun activities are ruined due to the small chance someone can get hurt and sue. Such as forest owners refusing to let people dirt bike for the sole reason they are afraid of someone hurting themselves. The list could go on with hundereds of examples of fun things that are spoiled due to concerns of being sued.

Answered by WRG
Because in general because when people are asked to sign them they aren’t in a position to argue the issue or aren’t capable of fully understanding what they are signing.
Answered by bcnu
Here in NH they passed a law that says landowners cannot be held liable for injuries to anyone coming onto the property “for recreational purposes”, as long as they didn’t pay anything to be there, and yet landowners STILL get sued by people who came on the land for recreational purposes and hurt themselves.

The lesson is: you can still be sued, no matter what anyone signed, and the only question is how much it is going to cost to defend. If you have statutory immunity AND a signed waiver AND a signed release AND a signed assumption of risk AND posted warnings AND hired security and safety experts, you may be able to assert the various defenses early in the case and ask the court to award you costs and attorney fees against the frivolous lawsuit.

Answered by Col
In the UK, any liability waiver that seeks to contract out of liability for personal injury caused by negligence, is not valid.

About Life Fitness
What started as one man’s pursuit to improve his own physical condition, eventually turned into a global fitness revolution. That man was Keene P. Dimick, the mastermind behind the legendary Lifecycle® exercise bike. The story of Life Fitness began when two young entrepreneurs, Ray Wilson and Augie Nieto, saw the promise of Dr. Dimick’s invention. Even though it was slightly ahead of its time, they believed the Lifecycle exercise bike could help generations of athletes, trainers, exercisers, and people everywhere live happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.

Wilson and Nieto bought the rights to the Lifecycle bike from Dr. Dimick, perfected it, and sold it out of a motor home to health clubs across America. Despite the overwhelming odds and initial unpopularity of the Lifecycle exercise bike, the two passion-filled pioneers turned a two-man operation and a seemingly impossible vision into a prosperous reality. Along the way, they shaped the future of Life Fitness as well as the fitness industry, bringing cardiovascular training into the mainstream and helping ignite the health club boom.

Today, Life Fitness is the global leader in designing and manufacturing a full line of reliable, high quality fitness equipment for commercial and consumer use. It is the number one brand of fitness equipment in health clubs worldwide.

Question
I know how to lose weight, but I really need to tone up my legs and buttocks. I have the following exercise machines at home:

1) Treadmill
2) Step-up block
3) Elliptical cross-trainer
4) Rower

Which do you think would be the best to use? I really need to tone up because even the skinny people in my family have trouble toning up–just a defective gene, I guess!

Anyhoo, any advice on these machines or on stretches and things would be very helpful. Thanks!

Answered by Sandra
Hi,

Age, genetics and body type have much less impact on how your body looks and feels, than you may have been led to believe by traditional media, your friend’s sister’s brother in law or your family physician. Truth be told, your body is quite adaptable when treated properly “with the right program” as opposed to trying to force change on it with inappropriate, heavy weight-training and uncomfortable machine type exercise programs.

You’ll make dramatic improvements in your worst trouble spots and most stubborn problem areas if you do simple, yet carefully structured, bodyweight exercises (no weights & no machines) which combine all three types of muscle movement: Concentric, Eccentric and Isometric. This is a crucial factor for man and women that cannot be addressed with typical weight and machine type exercise programs. The only way to combine these for maximum results and SAFETY is by focusing on bodyweight type exercises. Because its basically impossible to achieve this when using weights and machines.

I am a 5.7 and 25 years old and a month ago I weigh 147lbs although about a year ago I weighed 188lbs. I am not very happy with how I look, although I have slimmed down a lot, but I still look like I’m pregnant. My stomach is flabby, my butt is big and I just feel and look disgusting. I used to run on treadmill for 15-20 mins then do some stretching for 10 min and then workout for 30-40 mins and all this 7 days a week. But I just couldn’t reach my goal. It is enough to make anyone frustrated.

A month ago a friend introduced me a workout program. I was skeptical at first that this would work by itself. Targeted weight loss is quite tough, some would say impossible, but it definitely does produce results. I have lost 20 lbs in four weeks plus 3 inches from my stomach and even my legs are much more slimmer then before. If you are wondering that this program is too good to be true then get your FREE copy of ‘The Leg, Butt, Hip and Thigh Enhancement e-Guide’ at the source below. You will not regret it! And your body will thank you for it.

Question
I have a ‘Cross trainer’ at home that is very high impact, after at least 10 minutes i am out of breath and really aching and sweaty (im not that unfit). I have found that im getting toned but losing no weight(i assume i am keeping muscle), even though i am on a calorie restricted diet too. At the gym, they have the elliptical trainers that i can do for over 40 minutes without getting out of breath but i heard this was better for weight loss then a high impact one. I was wondering why this is? And also what the best ‘routine’ of excercise i can do in about an hour a day to get very toned and lose weight?
Answered by CtetMoi
Elliptical trainers are good as they tend to hit alot of the areas in the body that running doesnt.

You don’t want to lose weight too fast, 1kg / week is a good way. To be shaping up and slimming down you need to reduce your body fat and tone your muscle. Going to the gym and eating correctly will do this.

Get your weight in kgs. Multiply your kgs x 1.56, this will tell you the amount of protein in grammes you should be eating per day.

Also find out how many calories you burn (RMR -resting metabollic rate, men ave 2000 cals/day, women 1500).

Then eat the right amount of protein, reduce your calorie intake 500 below your RMR and research shows you will lose 2lbs of FAT per week.

Best to eat 4 – 6 small meals per day and do exercise too.

You need to be having simple carbs (fruit smoothie, banana etc) before going to the gym to kick start the fat burning process, then a protein shake within 30 mins after finishing

Remember you’er building muscle and burning fat, so themain difference will be in measurements of cm’s and body fat

Question
I started exercising and eating healthy for the new year. I’ve only been doing this for less than a week, but I’m confused on what the best way is to lose weight and body fat.

I’ve struggled with Bulimia and Binging in the past, so I’m afraid to count my calories and keep a food diary. So, instead I’m eating 5 small meals a day to keep up my metabolism, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and two snacks.
For example:
Breakfast: 1 cup Kashi Go Lean cereal with 3 crushed whole raw almonds in skim milk.
Snack: A small apple or orange or whole wheat crackers with a bit of laughing cow brand low calorie cheese.
Lunch: 1/4 c Black beans, 1/4c, corn, and 1 slice low-fat provolone cheese in a 96% fat free whole wheat small tortilla.
Snack: 1/2 c. of green olives or almonds with 1/2 c. of a sliced peach
Dinner: small chicken breasts pan seared in 1/2 tsp olive oil, seasoned with lemon juice, rosemary, and pepper with 1 c. steamed veggies (carrot, cauliflower, and broccoli).

For exercise, every other day I’ll do a 20-30 minute home work out on TV one day dance aerobics, one day target problems workout, etc. (I use the exercise option on Comcast On Demand).
And the day in between , I’ll hit the gym. I start with 15-20 mins of cardio starting with treadmill, moving to the elliptical trainer (cross trainer), and then to the stationary bike. After, I’ll go to the hip adductor and do 10 reps of both the inner and outer hip or thigh. Then, I do bicep and tricep curls with 10 lb weights.

That’s it so far. I’m just concerned that I’m doing something wrong, or I’m burning muscle instead of fat. I also don’t feel like I’ve changed, I haven’t lost any weight that I can physically tell since I’m not using a scale. I feel healthier, but I want to see results.

Question
my mum bought me a little step machine like this one http://www.surftilyoudrop.com/images/lateralthighstepper.jpg because im trying to lose weight.
im 16 and a girl
what i was wondering is, is this going to give me muscular calves? im trying to LOSE inches from there, not GAIN them :(
also, how long a day should i do this for?
i hate exercise….but this isnt so bad

thankyou for the help x

Answered by MikeL
Step machines will strengthen your calves and your heart.

You may experience a small increase in calf size from the muscle growth. The cool thing about them is that they use your body weight to make you exercise. Why is this good? Because if you’re using your body weight to exercise, you won’t get all big and bulky from it. You’ll get a very nice muscle tone proportionate to your body size/weight.

I’d go for 20-30 minute intervals to start.

3. Select card type/amount.
4. Select payment method.
5. Insert debit card.

I just had to figure this out yesterday, on my first visit to Manhattan.

Jay and Just Famous are correct.

However, I found that the people running the various stations were extremely friendly and helpful, and they explained the best traveling methods for my small family group. Think of this answer as the Plan B for “step-by-step.”

If you have problems, ask properly identified civil servants.

When confusion happens, we found locals to be downright homey and helpful too…

Have a blast. It’s a great city.

Answered by yankeesmann1918
All you need to do is press start, pick your language, select what type of card you want, and then the payment method, pay it and you got a card. Subway stations will have metrocard machines that only take debit/credit cards, but all machines accept debit/credit cards.

If you can’t figure out how to use a metrocard machine, I feel bad for you.

Question
OK so I have one of those little ‘step machines’ where basically you just step up and down, up and down…you can change the resistance to loose or tight, as is desired..

Just wondering how to USE it properly in order to actually lose weight?
Would I have to be on it continuously for like an hour or two, before it started burning fat?

Also, it kind of hurts my knees after awhile so, how to deal with this??
I think some of you are confusing a Step Machine with a treadmill or something that moves??

It doesn’t seem really…versatile, this machine.
ALL I can do is really either step slow or step fast, can’t really “jog” or anything like what has been mentioned.

Anyone actually OWN one of these machines who can tell me the proper fat-burning way to use it?

Answered by David B
Most excercise even walking is a minimum of 20-30 min 3-4 times a week. Start slow, stay hydrated and slowly change your diet. Cut fast food, soda and replace with fruits and water. Make small changes and after 3 to 4 weeks your resistance will go up. Be patient the changes will come. It took awhile to gain and it will take a small amount of time to see changes. Stay motivated and keep a pattern. *Good luck*
Answered by Bob G
Warm-up for 3-4 minutes at a fast walk or light jog
Interval 1 – run at 8.0 mi/hr for 1 minute
Interval 2 – walk at 4.0 mi/hr for 1.5 minutes
Interval 3 – run at 10.0 mi/hr for 1 minute
Interval 4 – walk at 4.0 mi/hr for 1.5 minutes
Repeat those 4 intervals 4 times for a very intense 20-minute workout.

These exercises are helpful but not the all ways for fat loss. You should combine other workouts at the same time.

Good luck!

Answered by Ilenes
I don’t think those are very effective to begin with. A small jog (even 5minutes) or crunches are more practical.
Question
the lower body? I usually use the treadmill before I do weight training, but I was wondering if the elliptical or step machine would be ok too or should I just stick to the treadmill?
Answered by Lambie
no. I never do treatmill for cardio. for me treatmill is boring. you can do another cardio. Always make sure you do at least 10 min warm up b4weight training.
Answered by Himel H
Always remove cardio from whenever you do weights. The two don’t mix. So have them done with at least a 6 hour break between the occasions. If you don’t have the time to do just that then try and do the weights before you do the cardio since you will need all the energy that you can get ahold of to have any real results from doing weights.

Stick to treadmill or start the bike or the recumbent one or something. Anything that will have a caloric burn meter or something that tells you how many calories that you are using up will give you a result that you can go with. Just make sure that you are keeping the calories going in the right direction when you are switching machines. If you can’t make sure then you will just have to go for another machine for your cardio.

Anyways the treadmill is the best from those machines that you are suggesting so if you were too stick with it then you are doing better just if you need some variation to the workout then you should just be careful with the amount of calories that you are burning from your sessions just to make sure that you aren’t reducing the results that you are getting from your workouts.

Question
I am a college student, 19 yrs. old, and never lived away from home…probably have very little credit (I have paid off certain medical bills and clothing store credit card bills), but I want to try to get an apartment soon w/ my boyfriend as a roommate. Do my parents have to cosign for me? Are there any rip-offs I should try to avoid? We’re trying to get a place close to school so we don’t have to drive but can walk or bike, but don’t want to live in those apartments designed for three or more students. Thanks!
Answered by kckid2
You won’t need a cosigner if the landlord is agreeable. It’s a matter of locating a place for rent that you can afford and contacting the owner. It’s not much more complicated than that.
If you meet their requirements, you have a place.
Answered by draggin
Nobody should have to sign for but do make sure you get a written lease for your own protection. Make sure all the rules are on and the amount of rent to be paid.
Question
I wish that when you are not that old, you hearing will be so bad that you will be not able to hear your own pissing. Your physical as well psychological health will be also very bad because you will not able to hear what is going on around you, and you will be frustrated at the world (poor you).
Anyway, when you WILL HAVE to wear hearing aids in both of your ears, we will see how you will feel then. Then I will have my laugh at my medical office.
Than I will be wishing that someone will drive next your house even on louder moto-bike and you will be pissed off and frustrated. AND I will be wishing that you have small children as well.
Damn, you will probably hear nothing and be stupid at same time.

Question
I’m wondering how I can get a job that would pay around $ 300,000 a year?

I’m not looking at the law or medical fields.

I am VERY good at math, I’m good at science – physics and chemistry are my strong sciences – and economics. I’m a senior in high school right now, and I’m in AP Calculus BC, AP Physics, and AP Economics. I started a few weeks ago and I know these subjects very well, I’m on the right track, I expect to get 5s on those AP tests.

I’m looking at colleges right now. When I was in 7th or 8th grade, I wanted to be a doctor for a long time. In high school, the AP Biology teacher really turned me off from biology – plants, other animals, studying all that – however I did really well when it came to human biology and it still interests me a great deal. Recently, for about 2 or 3 years, I’ve been strongly considering the field of Engineering. The highest salary for engineers, however, seems like it terminates very quickly compared to many other jobs.

What do you think I could do with these skills that I have? I know I could pursue whatever career I want, I have the drive to do that. I just don’t know what to make of what I can do.

How much do you think that, say, a mechanical engineer who works for NASA makes each year?

I’ve heard that accountants make a lot but I don’t know too much about what this job entails. I’ve heard that people who get a Doctorate in mathematics could go to Wall Street and make multi-millions of dollars each year…

——————————–

I don’t want to seem greedy for money. I just want to have a high paying job. Right now, my family is pretty strapped for cash. I happen to have expensive interests in activities, which I am not able to do often because I can’t afford it. I don’t travel at all – the only times I’ve gone out of state were during band trips in high school, and college tours. And one service project I did (through my school) on the other side of the country.

I want to make money so 1) my kids in the future could do things they want for fun. For example, I love riding my bike. I’ve gone 100 miles before on the streets. I went mountain biking once and I had the best time of my life. Since I didn’t have much money, I couldn’t afford a nice mountain bike nor could I afford the gas driving up every weekend. I like rock climbing but I can’t afford an annual membership to a rock climbing gym around where I live so I don’t do that often. Things of that nature. 2) I want to buy my parents another house. The house we live in is extremely small and not around a neighborhood that my mom is too fond of. 3) I want to travel. My mom especially loved travelling back in the day but she can’t afford it anymore; as long as I’ve lived, my parents have never gone out of state (nor driven more than 4 hours to go somewhere)
If it pays, I’d also consider careers in the field of architecture or something similar…

Answered by Ruth the HR Asst.
Accountants make good money, but it’s more in the $ 60,000-$ 150,000 range than $ 300,000+. Basically, in that field, you’re dealing with numbers all day, so you need to have a very good attention to detail and be prepared to deal with some pretty monotonous work.

Mechanical/aerospace engineers with NASA and other government agencies do make fairly high salaries but the jobs aren’t easy to get. You have to have top scores and recommendations throughout school, and you’ll need to go through PhD study before you’ll even be considered.

For the Wall Street thing, a lot of the people who do this work as stock brokers, options traders, etc. They make a lot of money, but be warned – it’s extremely high stress work and it isn’t exactly stable right now.

Entrepreneurs with successful business can make this much, but again, it’s extremely hard work and not the most stable of occupations.

One thing you might want to consider is working as a professor. They make fairly high salaries but have time off in the summer if you’re interested in traveling.

Hope this helps!

Ruth

Answered by JustAnothaGirl
Thanks for answering my question. Since your good at maths you could go far in accounting, but if biology still interests you don’t just drop it because you don’t like the teacher. Ask if you could change classes so you have a different teacher or something. I understand that you want a lot of money but please don’t just pick a job because you get paid a lot do something you enjoy.
Good luck

Shortly we moved parents helped of course BIL no where to be found we got most stuff had to leave some. After moved BIL went thru it took weedeater. BIL’s wife now has her brother & family living there they sent him over here to get a plate for free internet. the plate cost as much as it cost to drive here. BIL ‘borrowed’ fancy smancy tent never got it back. Since we moved BIL only been here twice
1st time asked for $ to send to family member in jail 4 kidnapping/molestation. Takes about $ 30 in gas to come here J gave him 20 then also when BIL made J drive all the way out there to work on a car, later when we needed help with a car BIL showed up late with whole family didnt do anything. keep in mind when we stayed at the house J gave BIL-threatened to kick us out cause we dont get pot for him. When out of smokes he would have his wife come over dailey bumming cigs. He buys pot from his 13 yr old sons friends.Been here twice since moved 1 ask for money & 2″help” but didnt. His wife has job she has had for a while & often threatens to leave him. J knows admits even uses the word sloth when speaking about his brother even though we agreed to cut him out of future buisness deals he wanted to pay him to do a website & I was thinking out if everything he had done for him I told him i would do it for free.
This xmas is coming up 1 time BIL got us a 5 dollar gift certificate & a card another it was a board game & a card every yr we go all out last yr i didnt make scarves & got the kids cheaper gifts adults candy. Things like my kids bike is at old house he got a new bike im sure they took the other they could ask, why one of thier kids broke an arm on a bike that had no breaks if someone is driving
5 hrs away to get pot they have enough $ to buy thier kid a bike. Next lawn mower after we replace ours the gift giving needs to stop no matter how big or small. Til they can show more respect. The only times they barely do anything is when they think they will get something in return.
we are having a baby they havent asked for anything, when we found out his wifes brothers family was living in the house i thought how long is it going to take for them to come by & ask for something sure enough 2 weeks the internet plate. We kind of got everything we could to keep

Question
When you consider it, life the European Union is much better than the life in the United States in almost every way. The E.U has a larger economy, more wealth, more citizens, better education and better quality of life.

Population Size:
The European Union (EU) has about 500 million citizens (492 million according to some figures). The United States only has 310 million citizens.

Economy:
The European Union has the worlds largest economy.
Europe also has the most Fortune 500 companies.
The Euro (currency) is stronger than the US dollar.

The United States is the country with the largest debt in the world.
The external debt of the U.S.A is more than $ 13,399,859,000,000.00 (94% of GDP in 2009)

Wealth
The European Union has a GDP (millions of USD) of $ 16,447,259, whereas the United States only has $ 14,256,275 (in 2009) .
In terms of overall gross domestic product (GDP) at purchasing power parity (PPP) per capita, the United States only ranks 6th in the world, behind several European countries who are on top of the list. The E.U has the highest GDP (purchasing power parity) in the world.

Several European countries (such as Luxembourg, Norway, Iceland, Ireland, Switzerland and Denmark) has a higher GDP (per capita) than the United States (in other words, people are wealthier than in the U.S.)

In several European countries people work fewer hours than anyone else in the world, yet European countries are also among the most productive in the world. US workers are claimed to be the world’s most productive, but they put in more hours than Europeans to score higher, according to a study by the United Nations.

World View & Culture
The average citizen in the United States has a very limited view and understanding of the world.
Only one in five Americans has a passport. The number of Americans who have a passport, according to the State Department, is 68 million, or around 22% of the population. That means roughly only 1 out of 4.5 Americans can even visit Canada, let alone travel to anywhere else in the world. So, only about 22% of Americans own a passport and only 10% of those actually leave the country.

Multilingual:
The majority of European citizens speak more than one language.
Most Europeans can speak at least two languages, and a significant amount can even speak three or more languages. English is the language most widely spoken in the EU, even though only 16% speak English as their mother tongue. Nearly 50% of all EU citizens can speak an additional language. 89% of pupils in the EU learn English.
Yet there are 45 indigenous languages are in everyday use in the E.U and of these 11 are official languages of the E.U.

Yest, only about 9 percent of Americans can speak another language (in most cases, only ONE other language).
[Note: Even the president of the United States, Barak Obama, can only speak one language - English. Perhaps he is one of very few "world leaders" who can speak only one language?]Education
The education system of several E.U countries is significantly better than the U.S.
Finland is widely known to have the best education system in the world.
The education system of the United States is placed near the bottom of the list, according to the United Nations. The United States is 18th on a list of 24 countries.

Lifestyle:
Europeans walk and bike more. Europeans use more public transit, and drive economical cars.
Europeans eat well. They eat more healthy than Americans.

Medical care in most E.U countries is much more advanced than the U.S. Most other major industrialized nations provide universal health coverage, and most of them have comprehensive benefit packages with no cost-sharing by the patients. The United States, to its shame, has some 45 million people without health insurance and many more millions who have poor coverage.

Vacation:
The United States is the only developed country with no required minimum vacation days.
The seems the average American dutifully work him/herself into an early grave. ;)
Typically, the American workers are granted only 10 working days with 8 national holidays per year.
Countries in the European Union has a required minimum number of vacation days, that range between 20 days and as much as 42 days. For example, elderly employees in Austria received as much as 42 days leave per annum.
Another example: according to the European Occupational Health and Safety, on average Swedish workers took 44 days off work in 2004.

Military power:
The USA dominates the world in military power- since it spends more on its military budget than anything else.
However, the European Union alone, has more military personnel than the USA (not even counting other east European countries, not part of the E.U).
The USA has a total of about 1,445,000 active military personnel, with 850,000 reserve personnel.
The European Union has 1,536,274 enlisted personnel, with 4,156,680 total reserves.

Answered by King of LondoN
From an early age Americans are told how great they are ”God’s Gift” how they saved the world from both the Nazis and the Japs (LMAO!). Basically that the USA is the best in everything. I wouldnt be suprised if some think the industrial revolution started there also.

Some of them even think they speak ”proper” English.

Then again this is just my opinion from observation.

But please remeber the EU is not a country and most of the inhabitants speak only one language of the certain countries official language. That is where the USA wins its one nation with a majority langauge being English.

2 hours on a train and im in another country where they all speak another language I do not understand French! a few more stops and they are speaking Dutch and German!

Question
I like the new GSX 650F and i’ve been riding a cruiser for a year, basically the insurance is what is the unknown factor, i’m going to call my agent but I was wondering what insurers go by. The 650F isn’t like a wicked fast GSX R so I wanted to know if the insurance agency would take that into consideration or do they strictly go by how many cylinders it has.. Thanks..
Answered by Robert LaFrieda 442
It will only be a bit more the the cruiser unless you have a spotless record then It may not change at all

Question
A local duo wobbles along on their Pinarellos (his a Prince, hers unknown) at just above toddler speeds in full kit. They ride to the coffee shop, pose for a while, and ride back. My “everyman’s road bike” apparently doesn’t live up to their standards for acceptable acquaintances, since they seem put off easily the couple times I attempted to speak. I don’t think they’ve HEARD me chuckle, though.

So do I just enjoy looking remarkably fast as I pass these two well-geared pros, or should I offer to show them how to ride?
I was making an ill-fated attempt at humor when I made the comment about teaching them how to ride. I wouldn’t really do that!

I don’t really give a **** what other people ride either. I just think it’s odd that someone would feel the need to spend so much money on something that is unnecessary for their basic skill level.

Answered by bikeworks
You mean that you never saw those people that buy high end bikes and install a roof rack on their Mercedes SUV then put the bikes on the roof during the weekend?! I feel sorry for the bikes, never being ridden.

I’ve said this before, but I really enjoy getting out one of my 35 year old bikes, my old dirty t-shirt and cutoff jeans and ride around trolling for the people that you speak about. I get next to them, smile, then ride away while they try to catch up. It seems I run into one group of 5 riders regularly who have begun to shout insults. Next time it’s a stick in those $ 2000 wheels.

Answered by boo2
I personally don’t care what others ride, or how fast they go. As long as they are enjoying themselves and getting where they need to go…
I must say that when I started riding on my super cheap Walmart bike or mountain bike (it’s what I had) other riders wouldn’t even acknowledge me…well some wouldn’t (and they usually rode in packs of 5 or so). Even though they were rarely in a position that they could pass me. As I progressed and bought a better bike…suddenly I got nods and waves. Ridiculous behavior. Now I make a point to wave, nod or say “hi” or “good morning” to everyone, if they are coming at me from the other side of the street, I am passing them, or they are passing me. Regardless of what they are on….and yes, even if they look ridiculous riding way slow on bikes that cost as much as a car.
Answered by Chornbeak
I do notice that it tends to be fun to pass people that try to look like a super competitive cyclist. I pass them while smiling, waving wearing jeans, a tee shirt, and some cheapo dollar store sunglasses. I always tend to notice their beer bellies as I pass. Sometimes when I get lazy I go out and tailgate them, it encourages them to go faster plus its an aerodynamically easy ride for me.

Don’t teach them how to ride, just ask them why they spent all that money on a bike that they aren’t using correctly.

Answered by Milty
Sometimes riders don’t ride as hard depending on the location. I see this a lot with a team I’m familiar with. But when they get to the mountains, the do ride a bit hard.
When you ride very casual, doesn’t mean they are slow. I do sometimes ride real casual because I’m just waiting for someone, or I just ate a large lunch and should take it easy.

It’s funny how I see riders with a 6k+ bike. Yeah they are sometimes fast, but this sport is about stamina and speed, and you need both.
I was riding at a track one day, and this guy with a top notch Colnago passed me like 2 times. I kept my pace at 20-25mph, with 80-90 RPM. This guy was probably pushing 30mph. This is funny because when he stopped and took a breath, I already lapped him 3 times. And guess what???? When I left the track, he got to the track by car!

Question
Ok basically when i lift the bike up and bounce it on just its front wheel gently theres a noise that sounds extremely similar to as if the cones on the front wheel were loose. They are definately tight though so im assuming its the headset. Ive taken it all apart cleaned it, greased it, it runs smooth and its not loose, but still makes this noise?
Any ideas anyone?

Thanks
Also bearings are in amazing condition so i dont need to replace them thanks.

Answered by bikeworks
This could be a couple of things…

First, the fork crown race might be missing or loose. If loose, just remove it, add 1 “loop” of masking tape around the crown, and reinstall.

Second (actually, this should have been first), either or both of the bearing retainers (the “claw” things that hold the bearings) may be installed upside down. The “flat” parts of the retainers should be facing away from the frame. If the bearings are loose and not held by retainers then I suspect you have too few bearings in it. Fill the whole race with bearings and remove one. This is the correct “loose bearing” count for each race.

Third, if the bike is used heavily the headset race on the bottom may be “brinneled”. This means that the bearings have hammered into the race and made dimples in it. If this is the case then the bottom race, and probably the whole headset, requires replacement.

Answered by hlsj_99
A couple of possibilities –

The cups are creaking in the frame – take them out, clean and regrease – reinstall. If the cup is lose in the frame replace the ehadset.

All metal to metal interfaces in the headset should be coated lightly with grease.

The stem quil should be coated with grease, or the steer tube.

The crown race could be loose on teh fork or damaged.

Take it all apart and see what’s going on! You need hardly any tools!

Question
Today, my novice girls team (most of us have only been rowing for one season) had a scrimmage against a few other novice boats, including a sculling quad. The sculling quad had a short headstart, though we still beat them. Did we beat them because of our “power” or because it’s simply unfair for a sculling quad to be racing against an eight?
Answered by Serafim
As a general rule, the more rowers the faster the boat. An eight man boat is about 10-15 seconds faster than a quad scull (with or without a cox) in a 2,000 meter race. If you look at racing results on a given regatta, you will usually see that this 10-15 second rule is true.

Here are some links with 2,000 meter racing times in them so you can compare.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rowing_World_Records#Men

http://www.rowing.biddulph.btinternet.co.uk/rwctimes.htm

As a general rule, a coxless is faster than a coxed, a scull is faster than a sweep, and the eight man is the fastest boat of them all.

If you want a real race, pit your bow four against your stern four. As a cox, you will never see your teammates pull so hard in their lives (using two separate 4 man sweeps, of course.) Now that’s a good time.

Answered by Dave T
A quad is not quite as fast as an eight, but it’s easy to make it fair- our coach just staggers the start a bit. THe eight is longer so has a little less drag, and even with the cox has probably a bit less weight to pull per rower- say 220 lb for the boat and 120 for the cox divided by eight rowers is 42.5 pounds of dead weight to accelerate, whereas in the quad the boat is about 180 lb, so abour 45 pounds each. Plus- a subtlety- bow in the quad loses effectiveness because she has to turn her head to steer every 10 or 20 strokes. They say ‘keep your head in the boat’ for a reason.

In our club, the scullers are the better rowers and we can usually beat the women’s eights and all but the first men’s boat.

Question
I am a varsity rower and I am really good as a rower on the water when it comes to technique. When I went to the Yale rowing camp they stroked me even though I row starboard. My technique is flawless (at least as compared to my teammates) and I definitely am one of the best rowers technique-wise on the team. Typically I row 7-seat or 5-seat. The only problem is power… I am a terrible on an erg. I erg like a junior varsity rower and am a complete failure when it comes to consistency. Tomorrow is my first 2k since last year and it will be my second day on an erg this year. I am so nervous!! What should I do? Also, what can I do to improve my power and strength besides what will happen during practice? We will be on the water starting next week and I am really nervous. This might be a bad time but I also decided to become a vegan this week to start losing some pounds. I probably chose the wrong time right?
Answered by Allison Newland
keep your slides slow on the erg. if you speed up, you wont be pulling as hard and sliding faster is not going to make you go faster. keep your stroke rate between a 26 and 30. keep your strokes very long and pull hard. slow slides make all the differance. i was in the same situation as you.
Answered by experienced rower
Erging confidence comes with practice. Knowing what you can do, and consistency both come from more time spent on the erg. Having a race plan is really helpful in a 2K. Advise to start with low rate and long strokes, at a higher split than your goal, and try to drop split each 500. That way, if you’ve gone too easy on your estimate, you can make up for it in the last 500 meters. It’s way too easy to push too hard at first and to really suffer towards the end of the piece.

Consider good sports nutrition for improving power, including recovery eating within an hour after workout. Listen to your body – I find protein is very important for max. strength. Don’t eat junk food and eat a good variety of fruit and vegetables. A daily multi-vitamin will have long-term benefits. Hydration is also a big factor in performance.

The importance of rest – a good night sleep every night is often underestimated. It will help you lose weight and improve performance on the water and in class.

Additional workouts – core exercises, push-ups, jumpies or stair / hill sprints are all effective for boosting power in rowing.

Good luck.

Answered by our battles
being vegan is a bad idea/ since you need strength and stamina protein is the best. if you eat lean and healthy meats and control your eating habits you will lose weight becoming vegan to lose weight will not work.
all i can is practice. technique is one thing but stamina and power is another and it is vital. technique is easy to learn and if you don’t want to fall behind you need focus on weight lifting and of course your erg time.
remember to have a slow recovery period and a strong powerful drive. all you do is practice to get in good physical shape and have a strong stamina.
don’t worry and do the best you can. i am sure the coaches will see your potential!!
Question
Hi, I’m a seventeen year old male (173 pounds, 6 ft).

Today at crew, we did a 60 minute piece, or an “hour of power”

My overall split was a 1:51.6, and my meters totaled up to 16,125

Would you consider that a good split/overall meter average? I’m a novice rower, and have been part of the crew team for six months.

Answered by George S
yes that is a good score

Question
currently looking at a like-new Fitness Quest Edge that I can get for $ 300 or BO. My goal is to buy something that will last long and is worth the money. From what I can find so far, they no longer make it and they also make the ab lounge and the gazelle thing. The seller paid over $ 400 for it one year ago.
My space is limited. The machine is 50 inches long and that isn’t even while it’s in use – just sitting there. I’m not sure how much more room it requires.
$ 300 is pretty much my budget.
Any advice, feedback, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I’d love to find a second hand, quality machine for the right price. I do not want to invest my money into some cheaper model from Kmart that has a worthless warrenty.
Answered by Going Places 2011
i too was considering buying an elliptical trainer or stationary bike for my house so i could do cardio training at home.

after browsing a few websites and finding similar prices as you did i checked out youtube for home cardio workouts and one fitness video recommended buying a jump rope.

i went to the store and bought a jump rope for $ 9.99 and let me tell you it is challenging for me to do 30 seconds of jump roping.

so, if you want to save yourself a few hundred dollars, a headache from warranty issues and get a challenging cardio workout for less – try the jump rope for $ 9.99.

i’ve been jump roping for a week and have lost 2lbs. i’m working up to a minute with a goal of five minutes.

Question
i need to know about a good elliptical trainer under 400$ ,has any one had any experience with this machine in this range and how was it,pls let me know ,also tell me about norditrackCX995 coz iam getting a good deal on one of these that i can buy second hand. but this one was discontinued by the company what was the reason?if some has used this pc of machine tell me about its cons and pros
thanks
Answered by wncan47
you wont be able to purchase one of those incredible fitness trainers for that tiny amount unless its used and missing parts or just dont work as well as it did when bought new.i would buy new simply due to that there are parts thats wear out and may not have been maintained the way it was supposed to have. all moving parts wear out and there are certain parts that can disappear. purchase new
Answered by yankeeinalberta
I would suggest looking for a good quality used one. Most all exercise equipment stores along with your local newspaper classified adds will have good quality used ones. The stores will of course try to sell you a new one (bigger profits) but if you tell them that you are interested only in used they will break out the used ones and show them to you . I have norditrackCx995 and an extremely happy with it. I purchased it in March as most people will get one around the first of the year but after a month or so and bills start arriving they tend to sell at a sizable discount
Question
I came up with this exercise as part of the height increase program I’m following, but when I tried it it actually induced heavy sleep on me. I recommend doing it before going to bed. Anyway here’s the exercise to help fellow Yahooligans get better sleep:

Have a glass of water. Do some warm-ups or a few minutes on a treadmill/ elliptical trainer/ exercise cycle. Then grip a volleyball with your right hand; your right hand should be on the side of the ball facing your face. Put your left hand on the side for support. “Shoot” the ball slightly ahead of the top of your head as high as possible (like in basketball) for 10 times but don’t let go of the ball; don’t lift the balls of your feet off the ground while shooting. Then switch hands (grip with left hand and support with right hand) and repeat for 10 minutes. Then take a 10-second break to catch your breath. Repeat this entire procedure for six times. After you’re done, have another glass of water.
Since this exercise is going to get you quite exhausted, don’t eat heavily before doing it and if you suffer from medical conditions (particularly asthma, foot or cardiovascular conditions), avoid doing this exercise without consulting your doctor. Okay people tell me if this worked for you. Thanks.

Answered by Katskan
What about just 20-30 minutes on a stationary bike? or the same amount of time on a treadmill? I don’t know about you , but if I do that then wait 30 to 45 minutes longer, I sleep very well.

Question
My goal is not to lose weight. but to tone up my muscles for a nice lean, sexy, thin, body
I’m already thin. I just need to tone up a bit..
I’m planning on doing some squats and lunges, and some pilates later..
but I just went for a walk with my new reebok easytone shoes :]
about 1 hour..
Should I do more cardio before I workout?
I do usually 15-20 minutes on an exercise bike a day..Can I skip it today because I did walking?
Answered by Jessica
Your fine. But you should always do cardio. Walking inst cardio.
Answered by ------
I don’t think you should do more cardio. Focus on 20 minutes of higher intensity cardio and then follow with strength exercises like squats, lunges, push ups, etc. That’s the best way to help you tone up and get firmer.

However, if you feel like walking just to be outdoors, or because you enjoy it, then by all means walk!

Question
Harley davidson mens shower shoes?

First of all, i asked this question before and everyboey tried dissin me sayin oh im a homo and all that, which is retarded because if you were one of those people you would have realized im a frickin girl for one thing, and im tryin to buy my DAD those shoes. He uses those as “house shoes” / slippers around the house or when hes workin on his bike or whatever, so whoever has the fricken problem needs to get over it. Seriously people get a life. If the only thing you have time to do is dis other people, then thats just sad. If anybody can help, then i really apreciate it. Thanks.
anybody know where i can buy some harley davidson shower shoes? I bought some from the harley store before a few years ago, but they dont have them anymore. They are the same type nike or reebok makes, just harley. If anybody knows, thanks.

The reason I said try Ebay was because that was all that turned up when I did a search. That, and your original question.
Good luck in your search.
