also, installing an IM client is not an option…I need a command line based method that does not involve installing new software, although I can enable services if need be
I have limited programming experience, but a good basic understanding. Feel free to use any language which is required to answer this.
What do you need to have automated searches? A server? Just a machine connected to the net thru a telco? I can get any of this.
If the answer is too complex (which I suspect it is) it would be cool if you could provide a step by step list of resources to see this project from beginning to end!
Thanks, I´m pretty sure this is a tall one. Good luck.
Thanks to both for your answers.
To answer to your concerns swivel_eyed, I certainly don´t intend to create a search engine
I am doing research, and want very specific information from probably what is less than a fraction of a percent of “The Web”
I _must_ only use data which is “public domain” so I will provide directly the sites from which to start, and will quickly work to control that it does not spill onto other sites, for my own benefit, as I will just have more data to delete upon review.
For this reason, maybe I don´t want to “crawl” so much as “hunt”.
Any new suggestions?
Thanks again!
I will try to be more clear:
I need to gather data. The data is specific in nature. And there is a vast quantity of it. To allay fears, it is not private or illegal in nature.
I want to gather this information into a file which I can then use a parser/automated editor to refine for clarity, and then store.
Up to now, what I have heard is that I need a web-crawler, or a spider. I have also heard I need a screen-scraper.
I need the bot to be able to navigate if necessary over web pages based upon specific directions (i´m assuming intelligent instructions are a bit tougher to create)
Please ask again for me to refine if this is not clearer. The problem maybe that I don´t really know what it is I need for this project yet.
Thanks again…
These are some points that you might want additionally
* You want to maintain mirror sites for popular Web sites.
* You need to test web pages and links for valid syntax and structure.
* You want to monitor sites to see when their structure or contents change.
* Your company needs to search for copyright infringements.
* You’d like to build a special-purpose index—for example, one that has some understanding of the content stored in multimedia files on the Web.
You can find a demo crawler in Java at http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/ThirdParty/WebCrawler/
In addition your bot should meet some of the policies like
* A selection policy that states which pages to download.
* A re-visit policy that states when to check for changes to the pages.
* A politeness policy that states how to avoid overloading websites.
* A parallelization policy that states how to coordinate distributed web crawlers.
Hope this helps.

I did not quite understand the second part of your question. Probably you can look for more information about it on wikipedia.com
Or could you rephrase your questions (2nd part)
Now, many amateurs lack that extra piece to tie their game skills together into making it a functional, efficient and consistent machine, so to speak. The first and biggest problem players encounter is being too static when playing tennis. I figured out that you might enjoy getting your hand on these little not so obvious things you probably are doing wrong – of course, it is posted here for free as usual! If you struggle with pushers, lack pace or find it difficult to be aggressive, chances are, you have troubles executing the appropriate steps. Many players have the feeling they can hit really hard – way better than some of their opponent – but they just blow up their chances during a match… If you’re someone who live that frustrating situation of loosing to lesser skillful ball, your footwork needs some fixing.
_______________________
So you might ask yourself what is a hopping step pattern; very simply, it’s when you use a little jump and land off the same foot you jumped with. There are three of them you can use: one outside leg hopping and two inside leg hopping.
To do a quick review of my terms, the inside leg is your non-hitting side leg and the outside leg is your hitting side leg. When I say open stance, I refer to a stance where both legs are more or less parallel to the baseline; I will say neutral when you are standing perpendicularly to it; and I will refer to a stance where your inside leg has step across your outside leg as being a closed stance (that’s like running if you want a picture).
1-The approach pattern (inside leg hopping)
It’s when the player closes in to hit a neutral stance forehand while moving forward. The player moves forward two steps usually. You will see pros getting sideways first with the racket set and shoulders sideways; if he has to take two steps, he will bring his outside leg in front of his inside leg and then get his inside leg forward so he will be in a neutral stance. When his inside leg hits the ground, he begins the swing and you will him coming off his contact by doing a little hop off that inside leg. Then, because he didn’t stop moving to hit, he could elect to close-in to the net or retreat a little back.
Here is an example of Roger Federer doing it (Look at 2:01 when he hits the forehand approach, he uses this footwork pattern):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9MuA9K_w8Y
2-The open stance running forehand (outside leg hopping)
That’s very simple. You run to the ball and you get to be able to throw your outside leg more toward the sideline on the forehand side – that is, you take a wide running step that ends up putting you in an open stance. You might think it’s impossible to hit the forehand effectively this way, but it’s not true! Very simply, make sure your last step on that outside leg makes a very exaggerated heel to toe movement and use that to begin your stroke and, as you swing, take a little hop and land on that same leg.
Here’s an example of Roger Federer doing it:
The question before the third pattern! Answer after reading if the post was useful or interesting. Also, give me some feed back about how it affected the way you look at pro tennis now.
3- Inside-out/in forehand hopping pattern (a.k.a Federer’s signature airborne forehand)
This footwork pattern is amazing because it gives you 3 advantages:
-you can do this to save time because you’re not forced to stop to hit;
-it allows you to get the greatest degree of rotation possible on that shot;
-you will be doing that shot while moving away from the ball…
The huge problem of it is that it’s extremely hard to synchronize, but if you work your way up the two previous steps I showed you and become an increasingly good tennis player, this footwork pattern is very doable by any amateur. Most complex footwork pattern, but also the most offensive piece you can add to your game.
To do it, your first need to run around your backhand. The best way to do this efficiently while allowing your self to adjust forward is to use behind crossing steps (that’s when you cross your outside leg behind your inside leg while moving sideways. Of course, there are other ways and you could elect an o
It’s not really a secret and the thing is that if you do not do the aforementioned and some other dynamic footwork elements, you are playing a very mediocre game… they are powerful tools to be aggressive in modern tennis.
One thing top pro players did than most other players is that they never quite. I mean they don’t quite tennis while they playing and while they do fitness and they never stop playing tennis. In they mind they know 100% they will make it. If you can set in your mind 100% you can make it and you don’t quite for 1 moment with negative thoughts, sure you can make it. (If you have the money)
ie when the request from the client is passed to the server, the called page should be able to identify the logged on user’s NT credentials on the machine from which the call came from…
I have turned off Anonymous Access in IIS and checked Integrated Windows Authentication option there.
I have in my web.config:
I tried this:
Response.Write(System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name.ToString());
When i access the application through browser, it asks me for windows username/password. If i enter correct username/password, it shows me DomainNameUserName on the page which is correct but i dont want the login dialog to popup.
What am I doing wrong? Appreciate any help on this.
