Question
I have a pocket bike with a unknown size Loncin engine. I got the bike some what dissasembled. I have sice got the bike back together but found when I check the spark with a inline spark plug tester Once i kick start it with just one kick the plug fires rapidly (10-15 blinks) I thought mabey there was a cross in wires with the charging system/ignition.
Is there anyway I could get it to run like a lawn mower with the ignition coming straight from the engine to check the operation?
Answered by chris b
My old kick start yamaha RXS100 could run without the battery, it should be fine. You may have to set the idle abit highier.
Answered by Michael O
if this pocket bike is like most its a 2 stroke engine which means it fires the plug every time the piston is at top dead center with a small engine you are probably getting the engine to turn quickly especially if the plug is out of it. also most ignition systems run off of a different coil than the lights so it shouldnt be the lighting coil shorted to the ignition system
Question
mileage is unknown but high I am sure. bike just tuned and runs very strong. Live in NYC with lots of traffic and I know it is air cooled and heat is a issue but oil loss is about 1 qt per 150 miles. This sounds excessive with no leaks or smoke to speak of. I am lost on this one.
Answered by bob D
Valve seals. not a bad fix just have to know a couple of tricks.
Answered by cstatman
just a guess. your rings are worn, or your valves seats are worn, and you are ‘burning’ the oil as it escapes past rings or valves into the combustion chamber.

You only see the oil burn when you start it, when you are moving, you are dissipating too quickly.

I would do, or have a mechanic do a compression check, and a “leak down” test.

I bet you will find the valve guides are worn.

I would have to agree with Bob D

Piston rings are gone with a oil loss of that amount.Keep the plugs clean and ride it till you can find another bike.Same problem with my 1979 750F got over 100.009 before i had to get another bike.
Question
i have an unknown mountain bike frame and want to know what brand it is.

There is no data base like that.
Question
I had a leak in my gas tank, so I took it off and brazed a plate to cover the holes. Since then, for some unknown reason, my bike won’t idle under 3000RPM unless I pull the vacuum line off the back of the petcock.

Anyone have any ideas why this would happen? Would crap from the gas tank getting into my carbs cause this? Much appreciated for any help.

Answered by DragonLord 66
maybe the tank isn’t venting enough now. try opening the fuel cover and running it. if it works then that is your problem.
Answered by indianjohn
Its sucking fuel through the vac hose did you take it off when you fixed it

Find out what it takes to evict them–then do it.
Answered by Sam B
Whatever you do has to fall under the conditions of the lease. You can certainly ask them to move maybe even cover some of the cost since it will cost you money to file an eviction. If they are violating any lease conditions then you should certainly file eviction papers. You could obviously raise their rent but if you do then it has to be across the board so you don’t violate any fair housing statutes.

Did you check any of their references especially the former landlords? Not that everyone would have been truthful but you could have gotten at least some idea of their behaviour.

As far as the kids go, kids are kids. You need to if you don’t already, include conditions in your leases for unruly children, proper maintenance and condition of the leased premises etc. That way if they would continue with the kinds of things you are describing then you would have a cause of action against them and their security deposit.

Answered by ♥Alien Luva♥
Charge them for the damage. Tell the parents that their kids must not leave bikes on the path/sidewalk. Be firm. You have the upperhand in this situation. If they continue to make conditions unsafe (having bikes in the way and leaving trash around), I would think you have the right to evict them. But check the out your city’s tenant/landlord rights before you take any action.
Answered by Kate
As far as the bikes go, tell them that they can not keep blocking the path with their bikes and tell them where they CAN keep them. Have them sign something stating that they will not block the path and will only keep their bikes in the designated area. If they do not do that, then you have a right to tell them that you’re protecting your property and if they cannot abide by the rules, then you’ll be forced to evict them.

Internal wall damage? Take that out of their deposit. They damaged it, they pay for it. That’s basically what a deposit is there for anyway.
