About Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don’t take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Question
Its a pretty old model we’ve had the bike for more than 5 years possible 10 or less! the net gave no answers so if you know a site or know a place that would be greatly appreciated!
Answered by Eferska
AN old piece of equipment like that you probably wont find anything. The best place is ebay. Sometimes peoples machines like that break down and they try to sell it off as pieces on ebay. But, if not I doubt you would be able to find a replacement part if the bike is that old. Sorry
Question
When i tried to workout today the display did not come up. I changed the batteries and now only 0.0 shows up in the mileage display. I have peddled for a while and pressed the every button on it, but nothing will work. I’m hoping nothing is wrong with the computer, but I’m afraid that is the problem.
Answered by M R
Well you must have power if 0.0 displays. There may be a reset button on the thing somewhere. It maybe very small and may need a pen tip to push in. That’s just a guess. If you have your manual, check the trouble shooting section or contact Nautilus for help – they’re sure to have a web site with contact info.
Question
I am interested in a recumbent bike. I am considering the Nautilus 2000 or the Vision Fitness 2150 or 2200. They all have similar features, so I am inquiring primarily about the quality of the bike and comfort with extended use. Any advice will be appreciated.
Any other opinions?
Answered by Curious Cat
I’m not really sure which is better…I have never heard of Vision Fitness, but Nautilus is supposed to be a good brand. I am looking at exercise bikes myself, so maybe any answers here will help me.

Guys, I appreciate the “outside sentiment”, however, I live in Houston. Riding a bike outside here will get you 1- killed and 2- skin cancer. Anyone know anything about specific brands of INSIDE exercise bikes. Thanks.

How about a real bike? then you could get rid of your SUV.

If you get a real bike, you can be even HOTTER by getting sunkissed as well as leaner.
Answered by andrew p
you could get hotter by riding a real bike out in the sunshine. recumbents are for geriatrics. …get yer face outta the mirror and get out and ride.
Answered by scrunge13
Buy a recumbent, but get an outdoor bike. The only good bike is the one you feel comfortable riding and paying the price. Recumbents are more comfortable to ride and safer. An indoor exercise bike will get boring over time. You can always get a trainer to put the bike on in the winter time which is a great time to ride outside.
Question
I’m looking to buy an upright exercise bike with a maximum cost of $ 400. So far in my search, the two I’m leaning toward are the Nautilus U514 ($ 365 on Amazon) or the Schwinn 140 ($ 300 on Amazon). Both have received quite positive reviews from what I have read.
I would like the bike to have:
1) Fairly comfortable seat (also, I’m not tall, so height capabilities of the seat won’t be an issue for me)
2) Rack for reading materials (this is very important, as I am a student, and I often rely on my exercise time to catch up on some reading)
3) Relatively easy assembly
4) Challenging workouts/resistance levels (I am in decent shape, so it’s important to me that the bike can provide strenuous workouts)
5) Quiet (I often need to work out at night, so I’d like a bike that won’t disturb family members who are sleeping)
6) Fairly small and portable (Something I can move from room to room with relative ease as needed, and store in confined space)
7) NOT battery powered.

From what I gather, both the Nautilus and Schwinn bike listed above meet all of these needs.

Have any of you owned either of the bikes I listed above, or possibly a different one that you would recommend? (Again, under $ 400, please.)

Thanks for all of your input!

Check the local ebay, craig’s list, and paper for a used one first. People buy those things all the tome and they only get used a few weeks. If you don’t see one listed post on Craig’s list that you are looking for one. Stationary bikes are very boring I would rather ride the real thing and use my trainer when the weather is bad. Check Amazon for reviews.
