The bike shop Schwinn’s are good but the Walmart and other big box Schwinn’s are junk. It’s the same way with Mongoose they are both owned by Pacific cycles.

Schwinns purchased at a BIKE SHOP are good value for the money. You’ll fing that they tend to have one level better components than Trek or Specialized at the same price. They go pretty much hand in hand with brands like Mongoose (from a bike shop), KHS, Diamondback, and Raleigh.
Question
A couple months ago I bought a bike frame from my friend and he told me that it was a schwinn road bike, it worked great and was a really good bike! But now I don’t need it and i’m trying to sell it, however I’m not too sure if it is a schwinn bike. There seems to be a small mold of a hear on the bottom of the bike, would this be an indicator that it is a real schwinn bike? I would appreciate the help!!

No photo, no link, no serial # —- no answer. Has the damn thing been painted or what? There should either be Schwinn decals on the frame or a Schwinn headbadge on the front.

And what is a REAL Schwinn? Schwinn sells bikes in real bicycle shops & they sell bikes in discount stores. Discount store bikes to me are not REAL Schwinn bicycles.

I was told I could use the serial number and trace how old my bike is. I do know that it is an old women’s 3 speed. I contacted schwinn but have not gotten an answer yet.

I’ve been looking for a vintage folding schwinn bike basket, the kind that attaches to the back of your bike. I found one, but it’s $ 73 plus shipping and i’m a bit reluctant to pay that. Anyone have any ideas where I could find one for cheap besides ebay and craigslist?

Couldn’t find one vintage, but found them new. You need a rack already on your bike. You also would have to buy these for each side you wanted them on. But they are steel, made in the good old US of A, durable, and extremely practical. You can even get them direct from the manufacturer for $ 24 for one or $ 44 for 2, see last link.

    They had wonderful bikes back in the 80′s and 90s but the rapid technology of full suspension and the surge of carbon framed hardtails and all-mountain bikes have made their Schwinn go way behind the competition. Now even GT and Jamis are following the trends of high-zoot bike performance. Great brands are really rocking—Pivot,Commencal, etc. are gaining race fans and will pave the way for better products for riders——-
